Our Story
A history rooted in service
In 1953, prompted by the need to empower school teachers, the Directorate of Education, Karachi initiated a training programme that laid the groundwork for a specialised college.
In 1954, the Central Govt. Teacher Training College was established near Nazimabad, affiliated with the University of Karachi. After relocating three times, it found its permanent home in 1980 at Federal B Area, Block 15.
Over its 60-plus-year history, the college has produced more than 50,000 competent and committed teachers.

Affiliated with the University of Karachi
Government College of Education is officially affiliated with the University of Karachi, and follows its academic standards, curriculum and examination regulations. Our degrees are awarded under the University's charter.
